Joanne Sherman is a wife, mother of two,
a certified Psychoanalyst, Advanced Practice Psychiatric
Nurse Clinical Specialist, and an award winning
author. In addition to writing the
Keep 'Em Safe Series: Anxiety-free Learning for
Children, Joanne has a psychotherapy practice
in New Jersey, and a consulting firm that designs and
delivers human development programs in corporate, medical
and school systems.
Joanne wrote Because It’s My Body! for
her own children when her oldest was 4 years old. She
wanted to be able to read a book to them about preventing
molestation and sexual abuse, but with a very important
catch. The book had to be non-anxiety producing, hold
no potential for damaging young minds, and the book
had to leave her children with a sense of empowerment.
To meet all of those criteria, it also had to be written
specifically for the 4-8 year old mindset. Unable to
find exactly what she wanted, Joanne wrote Because
It’s My Body!
Because It's My Body is the first book
in Joanne's Keep 'Em Safe Series. Her
other books to be released shortly will deal with issues
of preventing abduction and teaching children how to
deal with dangerous objects.
